And when I say “Big Sky,” generally, that refers to the light that our big ol’ sun throws at us from 93 million miles away. Sometimes, the sky is bright, sometimes dark, sometimes filled with red and orange-hued clouds, and sometimes, the foreground is lit up by the last gasp of the day’s sunlight.
And so on.
It’s fun stuff, and I’ve been chasing Big Sky images for decades. Here are just a few. Let’s start with one I took in March at the state capital grounds here in Salem. The light was stunning; the rain from the previous days had gone, leaving a wild array of scattered blossoms and vivid clouds over the capital.
Next, a small gallery of late afternoon brightly lit end-of-the-day images:
Up next, some travel photos. You may recognize some of the spots!
Next, a few random skies, starting with an early morning sunrise on the highway…
Followed by an evening in the city…
A sky’s reflection at the river…
A smoky and serene mountain beyond a lake…
Big sky over Detroit Lake…
Finally, from the top of Hoodoo Butte in Oregon on a beautiful day of skiing…
Thanks, I hope you enjoyed these!
